Accomplishments
Since 1993
Since 1993, the MRGB AHEC has:
- Served over 200,000 students, health care professionals, and community participants through educational programs
- A survey conducted in 2005, 90% of AHEC alumni were enrolled in higher education and 10% did not continue college due to financial reasons.
2011 - 2012
In fiscal year 2011-2012, a total of 42,105 people from Webb, La Salle, Dimmit, Duval, Jim Hogg, and Zapata Counties were served through the various programs of the MRGB AHEC.

- Head of Class, Youth of the Month 1,782 (students, parents and teachers)
Community Events
- Professional Development - 13 teachers
- Community Events - 27,188 individuals were served
- Mentoring - 3 college students were mentored
Community-Based Training Programs for Health Professionals
The AHEC promotes community based training by providing and identifying clinical training sites for the trainees. Training agreement been developed with the following:

- 2,673 persons attended continuing education programs

The Mission of the MRGB-AHEC is to enhance the quality of life in the communities of the region by:
- Increasing the number of well-trained health care workers;
- Enhancing the academic resources and support to existing health care providers; and
- Fostering a healthy lifestyle for the citizens of the communities.
The MRGB-AHEC works to meet the needs of the region through three programmatic areas: Health Careers Opportunity Programs (HCOP) K-16; Continuing Education and Community Health Literacy Programs.
